Adrienn’s wish · Her Xero account, authorised and talking to her own machine, so the figures are not retyped at the other end.
Adrienn is an accountant and a registered Tax Agent, which means the numbers arrive from everywhere and have to end up in one place. Xero is that place. The problem was never the accounting: it was that the connection between her own machine and the account did not exist, so the same figures got entered at both ends by hand.
Connecting an accounting package to anything is where most people quietly give up. The authorisation fails, the error is written for a developer, and there is nobody to ask. That is exactly what happened on the day, and the fix was one line of understanding: the app was asking for permissions the account does not grant.

The connection would not authorise, and the message told her nothing. It turned out to be the scopes: the app was asking for more than the account actually has. Then the secrets, which went into a file rather than into the chat, and one went on screen anyway and had to be revoked in the next ten seconds. A separate thread went at the ATO the same afternoon and hit a wall: a real integration needs more than a session, and the browser extension route is defeated by their own site.
