You run it, so it's your call

The prompts, the steps and the wishes on this site are shared as-is. I don't warrant that any of it works, that it keeps working, that it's secure, or that it suits what you want it for — and when you paste something into an agent on your own machine, you're the one who chose to run it and you're the one who pressed yes.

That isn't me washing my hands of it. It's just where the line honestly sits: I can't see your computer, your files or your setup, and the same words land differently on different machines.

None of this is professional advice

Nothing here is legal, financial, accounting, tax, medical or security advice, and none of it is advice about your particular business. It's one bloke writing down how he'd approach something. If a decision matters, it wants somebody who knows your actual situation, which a web page never does.

An agent can be confidently wrong

This is the one to take seriously. An agent is an AI that can open, write and delete real files on your computer, and it will sometimes state something completely made up in exactly the same tone it uses for things that are true — the hallucination problem. Invented file paths and invented settings are the everyday version of it.

So, two habits worth having:

• Read what it's about to do before you say yes. It tells you. That sentence is the whole safety mechanism, and skimming past it is how people end up surprised.
• Keep a backup, and know your way back. Ask what the undo is before anything real gets touched. If the answer is that there isn't one, that's the moment to slow down.

Start on something you wouldn't mind losing. A copy of a folder, not the folder. Nobody's first go at this should be pointed at the only copy of anything.

Don't paste secrets into it

Passwords, API keys, access tokens, bank details, anything that gets somebody into an account — none of that belongs in a chat box or a prompt. Nor does other people's personal information: your customers' details, a client list, someone's address, a medical or employment record. It isn't yours to hand to a third party, and once it's sent you can't take it back.

Where your words actually go is between you and whoever makes the AI you're using, under their terms and their privacy policy. Worth a read if you've never looked.

When to get a professional

Get somebody qualified involved when the thing you're automating touches real money, real customers, or records about real people — invoicing that goes out to clients, anything holding personal information, anything a regulator would have an opinion about, anything you'd have to explain if it went wrong. Same for security and anything with legal weight.

Building your own version of it first is still a good idea. Putting that version in charge of the real thing on a Friday afternoon is not.
